1. Smeg BCC02
This sleek, compact, and striking machine, created by Milan-based firm Deep Design combines the brand's retro style with cutting edge technology. The machine can handle all the stages of the coffee-making process starting from grinding beans, tamping into a puck and texturing milk before dispensed the right amount.
The machine is also available in red, black and taupe. It will easily integrate into any kitchen design. It's not without faults however, as most reviewers thought it was a bit expensive for a bean to cup maker (and it doesn't include an milk pitcher).
However, there were plenty of glowing reviews about the quality of the coffee and the ease of use of this machine. The digital display gives information and step-bystep instructions throughout the entire brewing process, helping you to perfect your drink every time. The machine will even tell you to adjust the size of the grind, in case that's not what you would like to do. It's almost like having a personal barista at home (minus Harry Potter's invisibility cloak and Elon Musk's rocket-building skills).
If you like milky drinks this model has a steam wand that's adjustable up and down to accommodate the majority of drinking vessels that aren't equipped with the Viking's drinking horn. We were awestruck by the speed and effectiveness of the frothing procedure, too. It also produces a delicious espresso, with great crema and a full flavour despite its compact size.
The BCC02 is a great all-rounder. It's quiet and efficient, and it provides excellent value for money at the current price of PS499. The only issue is that it does not provide the same level of customization like other bean-to-cup machines we have examined. It's got a 15-bar pump rather than the more common 19 bar that aren't as efficient for making high-quality espressos. But other than that, this is a fantastic machine to make coffee for those who like their coffee strong and black. The price may be a problem for some. It's not cheap, at nearly PS999. It's still cheaper than comparable Jura machines with similar features.
