Private ADHD Titration
There is a current national shortage of medications to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing problems as well as an increase in demand worldwide.
Our service is private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees include the cost of one prescription.
Titration
A highly skilled consultant psychiatrist will conduct a thorough assessment of your ADHD. This will include a medical history and an assessment using the standard ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.
After your examination After your assessment, you will be informed whether medication is appropriate for your situation. This will be discussed at your follow-up appointment (which could be in person, via video link or by phone). Your physician will explain to you the different options available for you to take medication and if you decide to begin taking medication, we will offer to titrate the dose to optimise the balance of benefits and side effects for you.
This is a process which can take several weeks, and requires adjusting your child's dosage gradually until the appropriate balance is reached. It is not unusual to have to titrate two or three medicines before finding the best one for your child's ADHD symptoms. It is essential for parents to participate in this titration process and keep an eye on their child's behavior so that they can inform the doctor whether the medication is working or causing adverse effects.
If you do not decide to return to NHS care and have decided to return to NHS care, your medication will be issued with an individual prescription that you'll need to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in the consultation fee). You will be required to attend every six months to check your medication. This includes pulse and blood pressure readings. Annual reviews are also required.
Follow-up appointments
Once the assessment has been completed you will be able to make follow up appointments with the psychiatrist as appropriate. The appointment usually takes place via a zoom video call, although in certain cases it may be possible to do an audio-only consultation (again at an extra cost).
At this point, we will discuss treatment options and agree upon a bespoke individualised ADHD medication titration plan. This will include a review and discussion of your dosage of medication, as well as any side effects that you might be experiencing. These titrations cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions, and PS60 by video or phone consultation. The pharmacy will charge you for any cost of medication.
The psychiatrist will also inquire with you about your family background and the impact your ADHD symptoms have on your life, including any relationship issues you might be facing or any other mental health problems that you may be experiencing. This is due to the fact that ADHD is an inheritable condition, and it is important that we assess any family history that might suggest that you are at risk of developing the disorder.
It is important that you are honest and truthful with the clinician during this assessment, as the information they gather will be used to determine whether your ADHD meets the diagnostic criteria. This is an important step because the wrong diagnosis can result in an inappropriate prescription of medication.
If you decide to be treated for ADHD we'll schedule an appointment to follow-up with a psychiatrist who is specialized in this field. This can be scheduled at the time of your diagnosis if you want to start treatment immediately, or within two weeks if you prefer to take time to consider the implications of your diagnosis and the options available to you.
We recommend that if you are unsure of your preferences, talk to your GP prior to booking your private examination. Some providers have different policies on whether or not they require a GP letter. Find out if your GP accepts the Shared Care Agreement, which means that you will be referred to them once you leave the clinic for medication prescription.
Medication

adhd titration meaning medication is a crucial aspect of their journey. Getting a prescription from an NHS psychiatrist can be a hassle and lengthy. NHS waiting lists can be extremely long and GPs might be reluctant to refer their patients to specialist services.
Requesting your GP to refer through Right to Choose is one way to avoid this (see psychiatry UK and ADHD 360). This means that you can select one that provides an assessment and titration. This can help you save time and be more convenient, especially if you have a busy schedule.
If you are referred, your clinician will assess you to determine if need medication titration. You will be asked to fill out forms that differ by doctor but the most important ones are self-report forms and medical histories from childhood to adulthood. These will help your clinician identify any conditions that could suggest you should not take ADHD medication if prescribed.
If you are being titrated on medication, this will usually consist of non-stimulant and stimulant medications. They will be carefully tested and monitored to find the most suitable combination for you, taking into account any medical conditions you may have. The process of
