WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The
Item Level upgrade upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be bought by players from
item upgrader mod upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the
item upgrader mod slot, and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through various methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less, even when they are part of another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type or gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's
Best item upgrader to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
