Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture leg. They also have carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it will cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they are.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a number of furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would think from its price. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.1533853948_gxwDPlbJ_4b0581f06379f19038ec6e0993c9cf1d79c20f4c.jpg
