Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.

He tests and evaluates cleaning equipment, focusing on robot vacuums and mopping combos. Multitaskers are an excellent choice for those looking to get rid of mopping off their list of tasks. Some have great mapping and obstacle avoidance. Some even wash and refill mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.

The Eufy S1 Pro

This is the model you need to choose if you want an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It is smaller than other options, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces or under furniture. It comes with a 220 degree Lidar which, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers one of my top navigation and object avoidance capabilities I've seen in robot vacuums. It has a hefty 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it is able to run longer in turbo). It can even return to its dock to recharge its battery in mid-clean.

It's efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms quickly, and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways in just one pass. The suction motor's 8,000pa is quick at picking up sand, dirt, and pet hair. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the dual side brushes help draw away debris from corners.

The mopping efficiency is less impressive, but not by a lot. The rotating mop spins at a high speed and pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, easily cleaning up dirt and stains. I've also noticed that the front arms stick out a bit more than other robots, which can be helpful to get into tight corners and along baseboards. Those same front arms can also be employed to clean larger objects, such as broken toys and fallen books.

It doesn't create as loud of a sound when mopping or vacuuming and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only downside is that the S1 Pro must use a specific cleaning solution to perform mopping, and is separate from the vacuum. It's simple to install and is effective however, this is something that you'll have to keep an eye on when you purchase this vacuum for the sole purpose of it mopping.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo is different from other robot vacuums in its class. It is a powerful machine for cleaning with a range of features.

The device is equipped with an impressive and powerful cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map the home and locate furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean intelligently and methodically. This ensures a thorough and consistent clean, while also being relatively rapid.

In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can reach many different surfaces. This includes corners and baseboards as well as other difficult-to-access spots. The side brush can be stretched to reach the floor near to walls and other fixtures. In addition the mop pads are able to be dried and washed to prevent build-up and reduce the odors.

Another noteworthy feature is the customizable options available via apps. The Q Revo lets you adjust the amount of suction and choose between a back-andforth, or a more random pattern. You can also alter the number of passes it will make, which will affect how fast the device will traverse your home. You can also disable the side brush in order to avoid damaging carpets and rug.

This device is expensive but it comes with a lot of smart features. However, it's important to note that it incurs regular costs in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For instance the brushroll should be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter is recommended to be cleaned after 150 hours, and mop pads should be changed every three months.

This robot vacuum that mops (click through the next post) has a high rating on Amazon and comes with a wide variety of physical automation features. It has an energy button that can also function as a general 'Clean button as well as a Home button that sends it back to its base station after finishing its cleaning task. It also has a multifunctional dock that automatically empties the dustbin, refills its water tank for mopping and washes and dry its mop pads.

The Shark Matrix Plus

The Shark Matrix Plus will be the ideal option for busy professionals or anyone looking to keep their home neat without spending too much time doing chores. It's a top-performing device, smart navigation, and a long battery life that makes it simple to keep your home clean with little effort.

The Matrix Plus robot vacuum is a 2-in-1 vacuum and mop. It can do both mopping and vacuuming. The robot comes with two modules: a combined dry bin and reservoir of water, and a separate mopping system with microfiber pads that snap in and out of place. It's a little old-fashioned to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping however it does mean that you don't have to worry about changing out disposable bags or refilling the tank with water.

Our test subjects found that the Matrix Plus did a great job at both vacuuming and mopping. Its best robot vacuum that mops feature was its precise floorplan which it uses to draw a route when cleaning. The Matrix Plus was able to navigate easily around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app also gives you the option of setting 'No-Go zones' and virtual barriers, which can help to keep certain areas of your house from being scrubbed with mop.

The Matrix Plus also did a remarkable job at picking up hair from pets. It was able capture many of the hair sheds from our cats. It even got into some of the nooks and crannies of our stairs where other robots struggled. It was fairly quiet and even had some nice jingles that let you know when it was starting or completing its task.

The biggest flaws were its lack of sophistication and the requirement to swap between the modules to switch between mopping and vacuuming. The app isn't able to store multiple maps, which could be a pain if you have a home that has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a great choice for those who want a smart device that can vacuum and mop.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our test, but it comes with some distinct features that make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is most notable for its enormous dock that doubles as a charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two water tanks that are 4 liters in size. It also houses the 2.5-liter dust bin as well as an 2.5 milliliter dust bin.

The base also has a number of control buttons that let you manually start cleaning and then recall the robot or run the dock's auto-emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents who are worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni like other robotic hoovers vacuums uses its camera to spot obstacles and furniture in its path. It will avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system maps your home 10 times faster than standard laser detection systems and is four times more accurate at recognizing objects.

The X1 can be prone to become stuck when it gets entangled in a hazard, such as the power cable that is draped over a rug. It won't function until you manually untangle it. This was a rare occurrence however, it was a bit frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert in its application.

Another possible issue is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during cleaning. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad apart from the fact that mopping pads aren't washed and dried between uses and can cause mildew or mold.

On the bright side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad apparatus. It's a major change from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot, and a welcome view in a market that is dominated by bulky boxes and clunky models.1494425868_yKdMU5Jx_548e6c5994e9f00e33868ebaac1668fc0a1f251d.jpg
