WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.
The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar
item upgrades will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current level of the
item level upgrade. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
item level upgrade upgraders can be found at many locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific
item upgrader kit level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less even when they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an
Best item upgrader that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system does introduce some modifications to the
upgrade items process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
