Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, commonly called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment gives an increase in the linearity of any stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an indicator of the level of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items increases depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the effectiveness of your armor and weapons. This can be done through many different methods such as using upgrade components as well as increasing an item's mark level or rarity. In addition, many items can be reforged, which can increase their stats.
Upgradable items can be found all over the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. The primary method to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components, which are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment comes with
upgrade item slots, and most require a certain level of upgrade. Some
upgrade item components provide specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.
There are many types of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, are able to be placed in any kind of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools and offer various benefits, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing extra crafting materials.
To upgrade an
item upgrades, click it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right hand side of the screen. It will display the expected statistics after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will read Blocked if you do not have enough of or.
The upper-right side of the screen shows the amount of upgrade components required to create a particular item. The price of an upgrade increases as the level and rarity of the item increases. However you can cut down on this cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant, or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, like a rune or an insignia. Other weapons can be improved with the suffix. These upgrades alter the name of the item to add an adjective, for example 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the shields and foci from Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any kinds of mods in any way.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to convey visual information. They move to draw the attention of the viewer and stimulate curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language and makes them more effective in transmitting an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs can also enhance the likelihood of remembering a message by evoking an emotional connection in the brain.
Each glyph has a set of values that it could increase a stat's value according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This is the highest value that a glyph could increase a stat's value by and not the amount it actually improves the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you are in awe of it.
The majority of upgrade components inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have a non-useful rune or glyph that hasn't yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to a different piece of equipment by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can take out the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item in which it is installed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.
When you remove an item after putting a glyph on it, the shards of the glyph will vanish. You can also put an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at one time. This is helpful for players who suffer many hits from their enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes that are placed on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as mystery boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player an affix randomly chosen and generally better than the one they had prior to. Reroll tokens are also a great option to reroll stats on weapons, which can be upgraded to provide better damage or other perks.
Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the item upgrade menu, however, they can still receive upgrades. When you press the "upgrade button" you can recycle these recycled items. This will change the layout of the item's window and let up to six items to be selected for recycling. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the item's rarity and its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than those with lower levels.
In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. A reroll will roll the % chance of a weapon trait. If it is higher, the weapon is upgraded, and if it is lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.
Rerolls are a good option for upgrading an
item level upgrade, but players must be aware that it can reduce the total ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls needed to raise the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective for Diadems and rings that do not have any other options for raising ilvls.
Some players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It would be fairer to allow people to pay for it using money or food items that would allow them to make changes to their builds without having to spend excessive amounts of time. The developers do not plan to introduce paid rerolls at this stage of the game's development. They're planning to include a potion that will allow players to change their race in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to boost the value of an upgrade to an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade, which increases the upgrade value of the stat. The second is to increase the effect of an upgrade which increases the healing or damage of a specific stat. In addition, there is the ability to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel, but will have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
It is important to keep in mind that upgrades can be random. In the majority of cases, a better roll is determined by glyphs. However there are occasions where a higher or more special roll could occur. Additionally the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the type of item which means that should you upgrade a rare or unique item to an exceptional item type, it has a chance to achieve an iLevel that is higher.
Upgrades to items can be costly especially when you're upgrading a piece of equipment from a standard to the legendary track. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on its base iLevel as well as the number of upgrade levels. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests in order to achieve the next upgrade level.
If you're fortunate the upgraded item will reach the maximum level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional effect. This will result in a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level. Generally speaking the effect of upgrading is increased by a value of +3.
Depending on the item's base level and upgrade process, the iLevel for the upgraded item will change as well. For example an item that has been upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary one will have the chance to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
