WoW Upgrades - The
item upgrading Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the
item upgrader mod by +3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The
item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to
upgrade item will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which displays an image of the item at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
item upgrader at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item level upgrade [

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests only have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
