Models that have adjustable height positions can be placed perfectly on the majority of bed frames. Also, look for breathable fabrics that are easy to clean.
Safety
A bedside cot is basically an old-fashioned bassinet cot that can be fixed to the bed's side to allow secure co-sleeping. You can use it to pull baby closer to you in the evening for feeding or soothing. it's a great option if you have the need for a c-section. It's different from a Moses basket or cot as it has high sides to ensure your baby can't be pushed out. Some models come with tilt features that can help babies with colic or reflux. They're also a bit larger than Moses baskets, which may make them easier to transport from room to room.
The NHS and the safe sleep charity The Lullaby Trust advise that newborns should be in their own bassinet or cot in the same room with their parents, but not in your bed. Bed-sharing increases the risks of suffocation or overheating. Bedside cribs give you the best of both worlds, giving your baby the opportunity to be close to you at night, but still in their own secure and private sleeping space.
When you are choosing a crib for your bed ensure that it meets the latest safety standards (it must be BS EN 1130:2019) and does not have any gaps or parts that could cause your baby to get trapped. Also, look for a mattress that is firm and flat. A mattress that is sagging or that is too soft can increase the risk of SIDS for your child.
Look for bedding that is well-fitted and does not have pillows or blankets that are loose. Duvets and pillows could suffocate your baby, and pillows can stick to their face. Use a fitted sheet but make sure that it is properly fitted.

Design
It is essential to think about the style of your crib at night because this is the place where your baby will spend the majority of their time. A lot of cribs are available with a variety of colors to match your decor and include features such as mesh windows that keep baby in view, or sides that drop down that allow for easier access. Some cribs have incline features to aid in reflux.
Many cribs can also be adjusted to match the height of your bed, making it easier to get out and in to your bed at night. You can also find a few that are designed to function as travel cribs, which are ideal for those who are traveling or visiting relatives.
Home tester and MFM mum Leya found the SnuzPod 4's sleek Scandi styling complements her bedroom decor, adding that its compact fold was perfect for space-saving. She also appreciated that one side of the crib is lowered so that she can pick up her sleeping newborn without having to leave her bed. This is particularly helpful in the event that you've had an emergency C-section or recovering from an Caesarean which allows you to sleep close to your baby for a longer period of time.
Jasmine is another mom who enjoyed using the SnuzPod 4. She commented that it was easy for her to move the crib from one room to another - something she did not see with other cribs. However, she did notice that the handle was stiff and required an enormous amount of effort to lift the crib.

This is a great crib for reflux babies too, as its ComfortAir breathability technology helps regulate their temperature.

This crib has a lot of options, but we're particularly amazed by the ComfortAir mattress that is breathable and regulates the temperature of your baby's body and maximizes airflow. It's smaller than other cribs for bedside use which can be beneficial in areas with limited space. However, our mum testers agree that it's still an excellent option for those long sleeps.
