Robots that
auto vacuum and mop and mop offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet messes (spills, stains) in one session without having to swap out devices. They also can save storage space compared to having two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking is easy, and the quick-start guide gets you up and running in no time with an entire dust bag, water tank and hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that is able to clean up a storm and is a great vacuum cleaner too. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a range of brushes and attachments and an intuitive app that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
You could, for instance, ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models are unable to. Its only issue is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. However, a quick look at the cleaning history on the app will reveal exactly what the robot completed, where it's moving, and what obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.
A convenient LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance jobs are required including emptying the debris tray, and rinsing its dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the water tank automatically, using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop are able to run for a long time as well, with the mop being able to operate for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode, while the vacuum is can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is simple to use and intuitive and lets you look at every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular
robot vacuums with mop mop and vacuum, is the most up-to-date version. The model of this year features a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This enhances the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that allows it to remove finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners could miss.
This Roborock model, like the other two models I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating dual cameras that can detect objects, determining if they are walls or other surfaces. It can then change its path automatically and clean around them without missing a step.
It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular design is eye catching and only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning process, a mop button that doubles as a child-lock, and a home-button to take the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin automatically refills.
The only issue I encountered in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth if needed, but it's difficult to take the mount off for washing manually. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these through the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops in order to enable voice control on this model which is a pity considering the performance of this model.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with its innovative features, top suction power and cutting-edge mowing capabilities. Its clever design permits customised and efficient cleaning while reducing time.
The X40 is the first
robot vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the
best automatic vacuum and mop alternatives available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry messes. It also comes with a top-quality mop that leaves floors spotlessly clean, even with a wet pad. The X40 is also very quiet while in use with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.
The X40 has an additional side brush that can be extended and lifted. This allows it to reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean curved furniture such as table and chair legs. The robot is also able to reach under low-profile furnishings which makes it a great option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush also automatically tilts down when detecting wet spots, which is a nice feature that helps the X40 avoid damaging floors with excessive back-and-forth movements.
Unlike other robots, which are limited to one task, the X40 can vacuum and mop at the same time. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and skip carpeted areas, or reverse the process. It can be controlled using the Dreame app or via Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.
The app is easy to use and understand The X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. They can also adjust suction power, switch modes, look at floor plans and maps, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress, and alert you when it's done.
The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers many convenient features, making it an ideal option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads, then refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It also can detect when the mop pad is filled and notify you before it overflows, reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive models available however, it comes with many extra features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature in its mop, utilizes two mop heads that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also vacuum up pet hair, small dirt particles and pick up spills and dirty spots.
The mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is beneficial as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we've yet to see on other robot vacuum and mop models and it could be a good way of keeping your home clean for longer.
There's an impressive amount of settings available that include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and adjust a number of different preferences. The app allows you to define these preferences, or you can utilize the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and has a lot of options to customize the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are many functions that other robots don't have - such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles, instead of relying on a manual setting.
The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a metallic-white-white finish that looks elegant and sophisticated. It is a little heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this listing however it's not excessively heavy. It is solid and well-built. The mopping system is well designed and the double-rotating mop is great for hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
