WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also added to each
upgrade items.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the
Best item upgrader however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar
item level upgrade will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and an issue.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will be less expensive, even in the event that they are part of another set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an
item level upgrade that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of equipment being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the
Best item upgrade equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
