The

Boosts

Costs
Upgrades are accompanied by some associated costs. The most significant cost is the upgrade itself. This price is contingent on the item's new ilvl and the number of perks it will gain, and can be expensive. It can also be costly to upgrade an item to a better tier (such as Explorer > Champion, or Veteran > Heroic).
The second is the cost of the materials needed to upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21and over) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable through completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). These materials can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.
It takes time to upgrade an item. It can take 8 hours depending on the size of an upgrade. The upgraded item's base stats are calculated using the

A Blacksmith Blessing, or an upgraded version of it, can be used to increase the odds of an upgrade succeeding. This item is useful when you own a weapon or piece of equipment that has reached the maximum level for its tier or is close to it. This item will allow you upgrade the equipment to the next level without risking its breaking.
If an upgrade fails the system will be restored to its initial state. This is usually a downgrade, but can also be an upgrade. Keep an upgrade in reserve until you're close to the highest level for an item.
Kafra has a number of items that can be utilized in order to increase the likelihood of a successful upgrade. For example upgrading an equipment using HD Oridecon or HD Elunium multiple times will give you an increased chance of success. The chance of success will be enhanced if you boost your chances of receiving a Double Mint by Shoe-Minting five times.
