1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean and complete dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a range of attachments and brushes, and an intuitive app that lets you select the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
For instance, you could choose to have the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the kitchen and living rooms but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models can't. The only drawback is that it tends to hit walls and objects at full speed. However looking at the cleaning history on the app will tell you exactly what the robot accomplished, where it's traveling, and what obstacles it has encountered or avoided.
The docking station comes with an LCD display that shows the time when maintenance is required, such as emptying debris and washing the dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with Eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop is able to run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last 136 mins in normal mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. The app is easy to use and intuitive that lets you look at all the details of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's flagship robot mop and vacuum. The model of this year features a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This increases the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity which allows it to pull up smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners might miss.
Like the other two Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by having a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they are an object that is a wall or a different surface. It can then change its path in a way that is
automatic vacuum and mop robot and clean around the objects, without missing a step.
It's the most expensive model I've tried, but it also has the most features. Its sleek and angular design is eye catching and only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning process mop button, which doubles as a child lock and a home button to bring the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin
auto vacuum and mop-refills.
The only negative I discovered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount for manual washing. I've found that any plush carpet the
robot vacuums best crosses will come into contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number intelligent features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can configure and manage these via the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. However, you'll need to jump through a few hurdles to enable voice control on this model which is a pity considering how well it performs otherwise.
