1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot
automatic vacuum and mop/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's
robot vacuum cleaners best that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only
robot vacuum uk we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its
vacuum mop cleaner robot cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they are.
For larger houses it's worth looking for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
