Side-by-Side
Most of the lightweight double pushchairs we tried were side-by-side models. They are ideal for children who can stand up without assistance, as they tend to lack compatibility with car seats. That said there are some exceptions. Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double are both great options that provide recline that can be adjusted in both seats, a wide canopy, and padded five-point harnesses. They're also easy to maneuver despite their bigger footprint and are perfect for parents who worry about fitting through doors.

Double pushchairs with side-by-side seating aren't 100% foolproof, howeverwhen your children are of the same age or at the same stage, they might still argue over who rides in which seat. If they are at different heights, then it is possible that a tandem design is the best option for them, since it allows them to face each other.
Tandem
While side-byside models are more suited to siblings of similar ages, tandem lightweight double strollers come with their own appeal. Some can accommodate a larger car seat and others come with Reversible seats. Some even come with an extra carrycot or a reclined seat that can be flipped in the middle. They are bigger and easy to get in and out of. However their baskets tend to be smaller than those on single buggies. Many also feature more generously large canopies that have peekaboo windows and a cup holder for parents and cushioned leg cushions for the children.
The iCandy Peach tandem is another good example of a lightweight tandem that is a an excellent value. The fabrics are less luxurious than those of some of our top-rated doubles. However, it still looks great and is easy to use. One of the most impressive aspects about it is its single-handed fold - although it does require practice, Kirstie in our Lab has said it's "genius". The carrycot can't be folded while it is attached. However, the mechanism to attach and remove the carrycot is easy and quick.
Tandem lightweight double strollers will usually make tighter turning than side-by-side models. However, they could be difficult to navigate on uneven surfaces and curbs. They are also slower to accelerate and heavier to move. This puts strain on your back.

This type of buggy comes with the greatest disadvantage of being larger than doubles that are side-by-side. This makes it difficult to maneuver through doorways and it can be difficult to get up and down kerbs. However, the wheels and suspension are generally able to perform well in dealing with pavements and the fact that they're usually much lighter than some of the side-by-sides, means you still have plenty of storage space. These strollers aren't easy to maneuver around supermarkets with narrow aisles and they may struggle to carry loads. It's a little easier to turn them around on the smallest of curved paths however, it can be difficult to turn them around on a straight path. Some are easier to turn than other models, like the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double or the Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double.

The
best double strollers thing about convertible
