Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested
This high-end bot from Eufy is the
best robot cleaner hands-off model we've seen so far. It vacuums, mops, self-empties its bin, washes and dries mop pads without your intervention.
It isn't equipped with advanced cleaning modes and a bigger docking station, but it delivers stellar performance for less than half the price of top-end robot vacuums. It also boasts an incredibly compact design that can be able to reach under furniture.
Vacuuming
Vacuuming with a
robot hoover is a fast, simple way to keep your floors looking and feeling clean. The majority of the robots we've included that we have selected are designed to work without your involvement You can set them to work while you're away or initiate cleaning sessions using your phone. You'll need to select a robot with excellent navigation and object detection to avoid getting stuck under furniture or falling down the stairs.
It's important to select the right robot vacuum to effectively and efficiently clean all types of flooring. Choose a model with an enormous dust bin that can hold a large amount of dirt in between emptyings, and a nozzle which doesn't lose suction when it turns.
Most robots require little to any maintenance, other than removing tangled fur from the rotating brush after each cleaning session (and wiping its sensors or camera as needed) and regularly emptying the bin or using a robot's self-emptying base. If you follow these easy upkeep steps, your robot vacuum should last as long as a regular vacuum and help keep your home cleaner for longer.
While robot mops tend to be less versatile than their vacuuming counterparts, some have the added ability to suck up spills and puddles while at it. The iLife V3s Pro is an example of a machine which is a solid option for those with hardwood floors or a combination of rugs and carpets. It's quiet and has solid navigation capabilities that helped it avoid obstacles during testing, and the charging dock doubles as a trash can.
To get the
best robot vacuum for large house results, select a robot that can handle mopping and vacuuming at the same time. Karcher's RCV 5 is able to do this, and it also comes with other useful features, such as a live camera, which broadcasts a grainy picture to your app, so you can monitor your pet or children and a
remote control vacuum cleaner control that's easily programable. The navigation isn't as robust as the other models in our collection, but it can lift it over low thresholds and comes with a large 500ml trash bin that doesn't have to be emptied often.
Mopping
Robots that vacuum and mop are relatively new to the market. They are more expensive and require a separate tank of water, unlike standalone robots. However, they might be worth the extra cost for those with staining that is difficult to clean or pets.
Some of the best robots can clean floors and carpets as well as vacuuming. Many manufacturers offer machines that can do both jobs very effectively. The Combo J9+, for example, is one of the best mopping robots we've tested. It comes with an impressively large dock that can hold up to 60 days worth of debris. This is a huge improvement over the Qrevo Pro, which ran out of water after mopping 30 days' worth of dirt during our tests.
The Tapo RV30 plus from networking giant TP Link is a excellent two-in-one. It's quiet and compact and is clean and easy to maintain an appearance. In our test rooms, it cleaned the floors thoroughly and accurately - it was particularly good on rugs, but it required several runs to completely clean some areas of soiled wood. Its LIDAR navigation works well as well. It avoids bumping into furniture and running over power cables.
It's a bit slow on the stairs however that's to expected in a compact robot that's designed to tackle obstacles. Its only downside is its mopping pad attachment, which was difficult and wouldn't stay in the right position during our tests. It is also not capable of dealing with dust that has dried on and dust, which makes it more like an ordinary vacuum cleaner than a robot mop.
It's a great option for those who prefer a hands-free experience and want to clean low pile or plain carpets equally. It offers a decent amount of suction, which helped it to remove dust and pet hair from carpets. Automatic carpet recognition is a great feature, because it boosts the power of vacuuming to better tackle embedded dirt. It is easy to use and the charging dock automatically empty the trash bin when it's full. This is an excellent feature for those who live in apartments.
Cleaning apps
The majority of robot vacuums, mop and sweepers have an application that allows you to customize cleaning routines. You can also select rooms to be cleaned, plan cleaning sessions and adjust settings such as suction levels, scrub strength and water levels. Some robots also have intelligent dirt detection, which makes use of past cleaning data and map information to prioritize areas of dirt and optimize cleaning mode.
A smartphone app can also allow you to create virtual barriers and no-go zones to protect your robot from dangerous items like cords and pet water bowls and sharp objects. Certain models let you create these virtual barriers using laser navigation sensors, whereas others come with small physical boundaries or barriers that to place wherever you want to block the
floor robot space.
The best robot vacuums and mops are intelligent enough to recognize obstacles and avoid them, but there are still certain dangers to be on the lookout for. The main brush of a robot can get stuck in long cords or curtains, and stop it from moving. To prevent this from happening, you can remove the cords and tie up any curtains that are long.
Certain robots automatically update the software that governs their navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithms which enhances performance and reduces wear and wear on the robot's internal components. It's a good idea periodically to check the site of the manufacturer or your robot application for updates to the firmware.
If you live in a huge house, choose one that comes with multiple cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can mop and vacuum on carpeted and hard floors with different suction settings. It also has the ability to automatically switch the highest power setting when cleaning carpets, and boost its scrubbing power with SmartScrub.
If you want to be hands-off, a robot with the ability to speak to a voice-activated assistant is an excellent choice. The iRobot Roomba 980 can be controlled by Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant. It is equipped with a compact self-emptying docking system as well as a powerful cleaning motor that leaves your floors sparkling.
