The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas are.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also useful. The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map.
